The world had been absorbed until now, understandably, by the heartbreaking wars in Afghanistan. As yet, no one had seemed to know – let alone care – about the existence of a very different sort of war. Its unseen enemies were the perpetrators of the recent increase in ‘Human Trafficking.’ This was a war fought in a desperate attempt to protect vulnerable young women from being exploited by evil gangs. The victims disappeared without trace before those responsible could be caught. Numbers were growing; hundreds of girls reported missing – they never returned. Concern for them was escalating alarmingly, and EEC governments were suddenly made aware of the very sinister implications. Occasionally, small items of news about this had surfaced briefly in the media, but, as yet, no public outcry had occurred.

When Acting Chief Inspector David Moran and his younger DI at Scotland Yard in London were finally given the responsibility of discovering just who these fiendish criminals were, they realised immediately that many Europeans involved would take notice and initiate reprisals. A different sort of hellish bloodbath between warring factions of gangs might then break out. Also, the suspicion arose that even the Press had been bribed to remain quiet. Now the General Election in Britain was over, the heat would be on. There was too much to lose for the criminals to remain inactive.

A volatile and explosive situation arose where the lives of anyone in possession of information relevant to the case were now in extreme danger. Moran realised this and braced himself to face what could be an almost impossible mission!

Claude Lessiter-Jones
Claude Lessiter-Jones started writing when he retired from being a prison governor in the UK. He had held the post at a high level security prison housing many of the country’s most dangerous murderers, and his work there meant that he regularly liaised with the visiting specialists studying the workings of the criminal mind. He has written this book now because he wants the world to know about, and to be fully informed of, the enormity of certain problems endemic in the criminal underworld. He has, as a result of his job, become all too well acquainted with the many facets of depravity.

His previous findings about research on the same subject have also been submitted to academic publications in a number of countries world-wide, under various pen names and in several languages. Whilst he was working he could not be identified for obvious reasons in case of danger to his person should the released criminals take exception to his general conclusions. Most however, were in prison for ‘life’ but this did not necessarily protect him. Here, however, in this genre we are assured that he writes as himself.

The Lessiter family were seasoned travellers who settled finally in the UK from America, so he was fortunate enough to be taken by his grandparents to a number of unusual locations all over the world. In fact, on one occasion, they were the first people to explore together the depths of a very deep salt mine in Germany the day before it was to be opened. The machinery sadly failed and they had to spend two nights in its precarious depths whilst a rescue party dug a channel through to their aid. Another incident involved an encounter with a polar bear, but he is reserving that tale for another book!

The family were also determined that their children should broaden their minds and their education in meeting people from as many far-flung countries as possible. So the Jones section of the family, although thoroughly English, were keen to ensure that the children met and befriended a great number of people from all over the world. Claude continues to find inspiration for the background to his books in many European countries, the Indian continent, and also in the northern tundra and wastelands of Canada and the deserts of North America.
